Monday, August 15, 2005 - Archetype find new singer
Latest news from Archetype:

After searching for months on end we finally found our new singer, his name is Tony Webster. Tony has been a part of many bands in the Cleveland area, most notably Mo Rage. His singing style fits the band perfectly and we are all very anxious to get things back on track. We are currently recording our new CD and we have been making a ton of progress in the last month. The vibe and chemistry in the band has never been better! We have ten new songs written and are quickly adding the vocal parts. So far most of the drums and bass have been recorded and we will start guitars and vocals soon. When the first new track is complete we're going to make it available as an MP3. Guitarist Chris Matyus "With Tony on vocals the outlook of the band is at an all time high! We've never been more focused on our music and our progress."

Archetype was officially formed in the summer of 1997 by Chris Matyus, Keith Zeigler and Jamie Still. After a year of playing instrumentally, the band recorded the 4 song instrumental demo "Archetype" in the fall of 1998. With the addition of Greg Wagner on vocals, the band released the four song EP "Hands Of Time" in early 1999. Later that year they began recording their first full length CD "Dawning". After completion in the spring of 2000, the band realized the recording was not professional enough and would have to be re-recorded. Most of 2001 was spent on the new version of the CD and in February of 2002, Archetype released "Dawning" which was greeted with much praise from around the world. Later that year, the band signed a deal with Lucretia records in Italy and the CD was re-released in Europe in early 2003. In July 2003, Greg Wagner left the band and in 2004 Archetype signed a new deal with LMP records in Germany for the world-wide release of "Dawning".

With the success of Dawning's worldwide release, the band had been searching for the missing piece to their puzzle, a new lead singer. After searching for many months, Archetype finally found a vocalist who fits the band perfectly, his name is Tony Webster. A veteran in many Cleveland bands, Tony's talents will join those of the current Archetype lineup as they record their new CD. The new material is taking Archetype down a different path than before. With a much heavier and more powerful approach and with maintaining the band's originality, Archetype is poised for many great things in the future.
