Various Artists - The Narrator's Curse Saturday, March 15, 2008 It's like you've read ALL my thoughts on this subject! absolutely inspired article! Narration can really damage an album!...Hell Destroyer was weakened for me (still awesome though)!...Rhapsody have some weedy moron spoil everything after 'Legendary Tales', Running Wild generally (still love 'em)...and with them you can't skip the intros because the music at the end is really good! ARGH! oh yeah...David Bowie 'Outside'...! The worst one ever? Candlemass - 'Demons Gate'!!! How can any demon be taken seriously with a lithp!?! sorry a lisp!?!
Not to patronize anyone but if English isn't your first language...check with someone first if it sounds okay!!!! I can be that guy if people want! some sort of centralized English narration quality checker!
I agree with Alanna here...'Nightfall' was done RIGHT! My favourite ever narration...there's loads of it too! I like its use in Evergrey's 'The Inner Circle' and Kamelot do it very well in 'Epica/Black Halo'!!!
As you've said...if the vocalist is god among mortals like Defeis (the daddy) or King Diamond, Peavy Wagner, Mark Shelton etc. then that's even better! Charisma is the issue here and those chaps have it in cart-fulls! Most frontman just have a good singing voice though!
GREAT STUFF! Too late for Rhapsody but maybe we'll catch the next wave!
