Virgin Steele - The Black Light Bacchanalia Wednesday, January 26, 2011 Add to the vocal overcompression the too-liberal use of echo and doubling. Actually sounds more like the vocal is just too loud in the mix, and actually not compressed or lowered in level enough.
Sick drum sound - plywood kick drum ala Lars
Various Artists - Steen's Favorite Albums of 2010 Monday, January 3, 2011 Enuff Z'nuff has always been underrated - great band with great songs
Gary Wright - Connected Tuesday, December 28, 2010 Nice set of pipes - this guy would sound better singing with Whitesnake, though. With a hot Tawny Kitaen dancing around half-naken :)
Epitaph - Outside The Law Tuesday, December 28, 2010 Wow - 3rd "forgotten" prog band I've heard of in the last few weeks that I dig. Thanks!
Star One - Victims Of The Modern Age Monday, November 22, 2010 Never heard of-em. Listening to "It all ends here" right now. Nice use of stop-time. I.e. its not all chugging/death kick drum the whole time. The acoustic gtr & organ breakdowns suggest Opeth?
