Norway's Arcturus, now featuring Dimmu Borgir bassist Simen Hestnaes (a.k.a. ICS Vortex, ex-BORKNAGAR, LAMENTED SOULS) on lead vocals, have inked a deal with Season Of Mist. The group's new studio album is scheduled for release in August, to be followed by a European tour.

In other news, Arcturus have been confirmed to appear at the By:Larm music conference/festival on February 11 in Stavanger, Norway. By:Larm is a three-day conference for music industry professionals, featuring seminars and over 80 concerts. This year's best live act will win a prize of NOK 100,000 (approximately $16,000).

Hestnaes' first appearance back with Arcturus will take place at the Inferno Festival kick-off event at the Underworld in London on January 27.

Hestnaes had previously performed vocals on three tracks and written the lyrics for one song on Arcturus' 1997 album, "La Masquerade Infernale".

Sunday, March 2, 2003 - Spiral Architect singer joins Arcturus
Spiral Architect singer Øyvind Hægeland has joined Norway's Arturu as a replacement for Kristoffer Rygg (a.k.a. Garm, a.k.a. Trickster G.). The revamped band are currently rehearsing for upcoming shows and a new album, which may or may not turn out to be a mini-CD as opposed to a full-length release, according to www.spiralarchitect.com. As previously reported, Spiral Architect/Borknagar drummer Asgeir Mickelson will join San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Testament as a temporary replacement for regular skinsman Jon Allen, whose personal family problems are preventing him from taking part in the group's upcoming European tour.

Monday, February 24, 2003 - Arcturus news
Garm from Ulver has left Arcturus, according to an interview he did with Brave Words. Here's what he said: "I no longer sing in Arcturus. We haven't made the decision public yet, it's still somewhat of a secret. I guess you guys will be the first to make it known. I had to choose and down-prioritize a few things. My record label, Jester Records, has 30 CDs in the catalogue and I really want to work with my artists first hand, because I believe in all of them. Arcturus was ok as an offspring project, but the other members have tried to get serious about it now. They want to rehearse three times a week, and I can't commit to that. I'm not happy with this move, but it's something that has to be done."
