TWISTED SISTER
Festival stage
Sunday 23.45

Twisted Sister's first show since their break up 17 years ago. When the band entered the stage you couldn't help thinking if they had been locked in a box all these years. Jay Jay French had almost the same sunglasses on as on the back cover of "Stay Hungry". Eddie Ojeda still plays a pink "Bulls Eye" guitar.

Just like Twisted Sister was consistent with keeping their 80's image they also kept the bad sound that characterized their albums. The live sound on the first 3 tracks was unforgivable and threatened to ruin the concert. However, the sound crew improved the sound as the concert progressed, but overall the sound was bad.

As musicians Twisted Sister never impressed me and I don't think that they spent the last 17 years practicing. The drum solo from AJ Pero was standard. Dee Snider sounded good though. He is a great showman and entertained the audience by talking a lot in between the songs. When a guy from the stage crew ran on stage to change a monitor Dee shouted "Who the fuck is that guy?" All day the weather had been excellent - therefore it was a shame that it started raining just before Twisted Sister went on stage. Dee Snider made a speech to mother nature with the message to "Fuck the rain".

The show got better after the first 6 songs. Destroyer and Be Chrool to your Scuel got the band warmed up and Twisted "Fuckin" Sister finally started to Rock. The songs played was equal to their greatest hits. I remember:

Under the blade
I believe in Rock 'n' Roll
I Am (I'm me)
I Wanna Rock
We're not gonna Take it
The Price
Burn in Hell
SMF
Shoot Em Down

When Twisted Sister returned for the encores the sound effect from Come out and Play was on the P.A. Dee Snider ended the concert with the remark that we should all return to our tents to dry off.

Just like the weather, this was a doubtful experience. I like Twisted Sister and I am happy to have experienced them Live in concert. A better sound and a tighter band would have raised the quality level of the concert.
