Doro - Fight
I must admit that this is the first time I've ever listened to anything by Doro. I have never heard any of her solo albums or songs from her time with Warlock. I wasn't sure what to expect, so this album came as a pleasant surprise to me. Lots of heavy songs sung straight from the heart by a singer with a very powerful voice.

First song Fight starts out heavy and doesn't hold back. A strong song with lots of balls :) Doro wrote this song for the German female boxer Regina Halmich who apparently plans to play it every time she enters the arena for a fight. Nice.

Right away I noticed the one thing that unfortunately pulls the whole album down a little for me. The production is somewhat weird. The heavy guitars are pushed way into the background in favour of some very deep drums and of course Doro's voice. It gives the whole album a very deep and thick sound and it's apparantly what the band opted for. Maybe it's just me, but I think a clearer sound would have made many of the songs even better. I got used to the production after a few songs though. The good thing about the weird production is that it gives the album a very special heavy atmosphere.

Along with Fight the album has some up tempo rockers like Always live to win which has a nice drive from the heavy guitars, and an anthem like chorus, Salvaje is one of my favourites with it's very catchy Spanish chorus and great guitars. I wonder if this is the song where Chris Caffery plays guitar... Last of the up tempo rocker is Chained which for some reason reminds me of The gods made heavy metal by Manowar. Probably because of the guitars.

Some of the slower songs include Descent where Doro sings a duet with Pete Steele of Type O Negative. I love this one. It has a great vibe and a doomy atmosphere because of the tuned down, monster heavy guitars and "The voice". I can recommend listening to this one with your headphones on. A slow and heavy song with a great chorus.

Other mid tempo songs are Legends never die which was written by Gene Simmons of Kiss. Great song which has a very nice atmosphere. Rock before you bleed is a good anthem like rock song with a nice bass line throughout. Sister darknes is another good mid tempo song with a heavy chorus. In a live situation this one would call for some serious headbanging... Another favourite of mine is Wild heart. Doro sings great on this one and it has a very powerful chorus.

There is also room for two ballads on the album. Undying and Fight by your side. Undying is extremely beautiful. The lyrics and music fit together really well here. I love it. Fight by your side is about war and has some strong lyrics. I like the melody and the singing is top notch. But still, it doesn't have quite the same impact as Undying.

Hoffnung ends the album on a good note. The verses of this song are sung in German and I don't understand a word... But the very nice chorus is in English and helps the song get off the ground.

Lots of little touches are hidden away by the production and you'll only notice them after several listens. That is also why I feel that this album gets better every time I listen to it. Even after listening to it many many times it's still growing on me.

All people who like Hard and Heavy rock with some metal influences should check this one out. Don't be scared away by the fact that it's a female singer. She has a lot of power in her voice and sings with real emotion.

Overall it's a very good album with lots of variation between each song. All the songs on the album are good and not one song is similar to another. I'll be checking out some more Doro stuff in the future. If any Doro fans visit this page, give me some recommendations ok?

Killer tracks: Undying, Fight, Salvaje, Descent and Wild heart.

I have been a HUGE Doro fan since 1988. One of my favorite cds from here is called "Love Me in Black". It has a lot of techno metal sound. But it is a really good CD. Terrorvision ROCKS!!! I have heard the title track to 'Fight" I know I can not wait to hear the rest of the cd when it comes out in Sept here in the US

A new Album from Doro, I can't wait. I'm glad we have another convert. I have been a fan of Doro since I saw "All We Are" on MTV (when they played music). I think you should go back and check out her entire catalog. I really can not pick a favorite CD, I LOVE them ALL. She has such a powerful voice, but can switch gears and to sing a sweet ballad. She sings from the heart and it really comes through in the songs.

Hi! I'm a spanish Doro fan. I buy two days ago "Fight". I like the record very much. I think Doro has found a style that i think she had still since 1995 with "Machine II Machine". I think that last recor is better than this. I like more "Calling the Wild", but "Fight " i think is very good.
To Steen say that listen the warlock's cd and from her solo albums: "Force Majeure", "Doro", "True At Heart"(I love that record) and "Calling The Wild".

Try Calling the Wild, True as Steel, and Triumph and Agony too. I like all of her stuff but those three are perfect.

I've been a Warlock/Doro fan since the 80's and she is the best Female performer in metal, but this is the worst cd she has done.

I have all of Doro's albums. This one is probably my least favorite. For whatever reason I just can't seem to get into it. My top 3 Doro albums are (1) Love Me In Black, (2) Angels Never Die, and (3) Force Majeure. If you have never listened to Doro before, Love Me In Black would be a great place to start.
