Friday, August 20, 2010 - Arjen Reveals Star One Singers And Album Concept | Arjen has posted another video update to his Youtube channel -- this time revealing the singers who appear on the new Star One album Victims of the Modern Age as well as the album concept. You can watch it here.
For those of you who can't watch the video, here is the info:
Star One vocalists
Russell Allen (Symphony X) Damian Wilson (Headspace, Threshold) Floor Jansen (ReVamp, ex-After Forever) Dan Swanö (Nightingale, Second Sky, ex-Edge Of Sanity)
Album concept
Here's what Arjen has to say about the concept of "Victims of the Modern Age":"I based the songs on dystopian and post-apocalyptic sci-fi movies that have made an impression on me throughout my life. Unlike the first Star One album 'Space Metal,' where all the songs were set in space, this time most of the songs take place right here on Earth. No, I'm not going to tell you which movies inspired the tracks -- that would spoil all the fun! And I do hope that the dark subject matter won't keep people from enjoying this journey through time to some of the more grim possible outcomes for humanity's future." · Discuss this news further (1) |
Monday, August 9, 2010 - Arjen to release a new Star One album! | Update from the official Arjen Lucassen website:
You've not heard anything from us in a while, but there's a good reason. We'll let Arjen take it from here: "I'm so sorry for the long silence, but I hope you will forgive me! You see, I've spent the past few months working feverishly to get my next album ready in time. Luckily, I did it -- it's finished, and if all goes well will be released in late October 2010. It's a Star One follow-up called "Victims of the Modern Age" and the beautiful cover art is by Cristophe Desssaigne, who also designed the Guilt Machine artwork last year. For the next few weeks leading up to the release we'll be pestering you with little audio and video updates, so stay tuned! You can see the first video update here."

Sunday, April 11, 2010 - Star One demo listening party | News from the official Arjen Lucassen Website:
Those who follow Arjen on Facebook, Myspace or Twitter have probably already heard that the Mastermind is hard at work on what will be a new STAR ONE album. The instrumental demos are completed, and Arjen is now working on lyrics and melody lines. Stay tuned for more!
A few weeks ago, Arjen's former manager Yvette graciously hosted a demo listening party for the people on Arjen's message board. It was an open invitation, although because of limitations of space, attendance was limited to the first few people who confirmed they could make it.
The 9 attendees got to listen to the demos, munch on assorted goodies, and fill in feedback forms to catalog their reactions to the songs for Arjen. Keep in mind that they heard rough demos -- no vocals, no solos -- these are the first demos that Arjen puts together just to get the structure and feel of the songs down before starting serious work on lyrics and vocal melodies.
Yvette kindly edited a very short video clip that gives an idea of what happened that day. In this video not only do you get to SEE what happened, you get to HEAR some snippets of the demos as well · Discuss this news further (0) |
