Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - Bob Catley album news | Press release from Frontiers Records:
Frontiers Records (Zink Music/Bonnier Amigo) is pleased to announce the release of the brand new BOB CATLEY album "Immortal" on September 19th 2008. Best known as the singer of British Rock legends MAGNUM, Bob Catley started his solo career in 1998 with the release of the highly acclaimed album "The Tower" written and produced by TEN leader Gary Hughes, who also wrote and produced the two following records "Legends" and "Middle Earth". Closing the chapter on the collaboration with Hughes, Bob Catley chose to pursue a heavier direction leaning more towards the sound of Rainbow and Dio with his latest releases "When Empires Burn" (with songs written by the other TEN member Paul Hodson) and "Spirit of Man" (with songs contributed by longtime Bob Catley band guitarist Vince O`Regan and another two British songwriters Dave Thompson and Paul Uttley). For his brand new studio album Bob has again moved on and selected songs written on purpose by the Swedish axeman Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Allen/Lande, Starbreaker). The album production and recording happened in Karlsruhe, Germany under the supervision of Pink Cream 69's Dennis Ward (producer of Angra, House of Lords, Edenbridge, Sunstorm, Place Vendome etc) . Dennis cared for the bass and guitar parts, with drums handled by Dirk Bruineberg (Elegy) and keyboards provided by Karlsson himself. Magnus Karlsson plays lead guitars on "End of the World" and the other PC 69's member Uwe Reitenauer also contributed with a few solos. "Magnus and Dennis ward did a great job for me, I am really pleased with the way the new album has turned out and I hope everyone enjoys Immortal as much as I did", says Bob. "Immortal" is indeed the heaviest, most epic and still melodic Bob Catley release ever. Capturing the dramatic spirit of the music of Magnum and early Rainbow and melting it with the peculiar approach to songwriting coming from Karlsson, the music of "Immortal" is well portrayed in the cover art specifically designed for the album by long-time Magnum sleeve designer Rodney Matthews.
"Immortal" final tracklisting will include: Dreamers Unite; We Are Immortal; End Of The World; Open Your Eyes; The Searcher; One More Night; Light Up My Way; You Are My Star; War In Heaven; Win The Throne; Haunted; Heat Of Passion. Bob Catley has recorded his ultimate album, just don't miss the chance for this new masterpiece. · Discuss this news further (2) |
Tuesday, January 28, 2003 - Bob Catley | After three studio albums as a solo artist and after the hugely successful come back album with Magnum, Bob Catley took some hiatus in order to refresh and re-establish his solo career as well. His new solo album entitled "When Empires Burn" is taking shape with a more live feel and a band approach. This time the songs are written by a new amazingly talented songwriter: Paul Hodson, ex HARD RAIN and new keyboard player for TEN. Still the sound style will be epic and melodic with a much improved production!
The musicians appearing on the album are Bob himself, Paul Hodson on keyboards, Vince O`Regan on guitar, Al Barrow on bass (who also supplied the artwork!) and Jamie Little on drums.
The songs being recorded for consideration are My America, This is The Day, Heaven Can Wait, When Empires Burn, I'll Be Your Fool, Children Of The Circle, Gonna Live Forever, Meaning Of Love, Prophecy, Every Beat Of My Heart and Someday Utopia.
Bob is also planning a UK and European tour starting in late may to launch the release of the album planned for early June. A single will be released prior to the album and will feature "I`ll Be Your Fool", a bonus track from the above mentioned titles plus a couple of special acoustic versions of songs. More details will follow once the song choice has been settled upon. · Discuss this news further (0) |
