| Thursday, June 18, 2009 - Queensr˙che - Operation: Mindcrime May Be Broadway Bound | In an exclusive interview with Sterling Whitaker for We Will Rock You, Queensr˙che vocalist Geoff Tate confirmed that the band is in discussions to bring its seminal album Operation: Mindcrime to Broadway.
"Over the years we've been approached by a number of different people in regard to that album," Tate stated. "It just hasn't been the right sort of set up, one that we would feel comfortable with; although as I speak we're meeting with some people about a Broadway production of it. Some fairly big names in Broadway have been working on it and have come to us with this plan, so we're entertaining that at the moment." On June 12th Rent star Adam Pascal told Playbill.com that he will collaborate with Queensryche on the project, which is in its early stages.
"A lot of times people are motivated by money, and I suppose if they waved millions and millions of dollars at us, we might be tempted at some point to sign off on that," Tate said with a laugh. "But we're not in a position where we need the money at this point, so it's nice to keep it close and that way keep some element of control over it and have it presented in the way you want it to be presented . . . it's kind of hard to let go of that."
The singer also discusses Queensr˙che's latest album American Soldier, available from Rhino Records. Inspired by Geoff Tate's actual recorded conversations with American soldiers, the album is a conceptual work about the human cost of war as seen through the eyes of a soldier. Other topics include the decline of record companies and the rise of downloading, Tate's fond memories of maestro David Kyle, the band's current tour in support of American Soldier, and the possibilities for Queensr˙che's next album.

| Saturday, November 1, 2008 - Queensr˙che Album News | Queensr˙che is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their 12th studio album, AMERICAN SOLDIER. The concept album, due this spring from Rhino/Atco, finds the band once again tackling some heavy subject matter, this time focusing on telling the story of war from a firsthand perspective. Singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate has spent the last few years conducting extensive interviews with veterans and has crafted their thoughts into this epic tale. AMERICAN SOLDIER examines American wars from World War II through Iraq from the viewpoint of those in the trenches and on the frontlines. Following the album's release, Queensr˙che plan to present tracks from the album live on an extensive spring tour of the U.S., with international dates to follow later in 2009. The first date of the tour will be a hometown gig at Seattle's Snoqualmie Casino on April 16.
"Queensr˙che has always had incredible support from members of the Armed Services," says Tate. "It seems like after every show, I'd end up speaking with a fan that was or had been involved with the military. The more and more I began to hear their accounts and feelings, the more I really felt a conviction to tell their story. Over the last two years, I've conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with veterans of many different American wars. I listened to their amazing and moving recounts and did my best to examine war through their eyes."

| Wednesday, May 7, 2008 - I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary Of Queensr˙che's Operation: Mindcrime | To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Queensr˙che's Operation:Mindcrime album, Blistering.com will be running a multi-part retrospective detailing the album's creation titled, "I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary of Operation:Mindcrime."
Compiled by noted Queensr˙che historian Christa Titus, the series will feature interviews with members involved in the album's creation, plus perspectives from two other relevant sources. With topics ranging from guitarist Michael Wilton's initial displeasure with the album's mix and singer Geoff Tate's assessment of how TV helped sell "Mindcrime," to bassist Eddie Jackson's take on dealing with new-found success and drummer Scott Rockenfield's intimate details of the band's rehearsal space, "I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary of Operation: Mindcrime" is one of the first complete and comprehensive looks at one of rock's most intriguing concept albums and the players involved in it.
The first installment of Blistering's Queensr˙che's Mindcrime retrospective will be posted on Tuesday, May 6th and will feature guitarist Michael Wilton.

| Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - Qyeensr˙che to release cover album | Queensryche pays homage to some of its musical idols on "Take Cover," a covers album due Nov. 13 via Rhino. The Seattle group is putting its stamp on such numbers as Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine," U2's "Bullet the Blue Sky" and Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain."
"We'll never top the originals; they're classics for a reason," singer Geoff Tate says. "We were more focused on finding different approaches that took the songs in unexpected directions."
He explains that the album gave the band a chance to have some fun. "During sound checks, [guitarists Mike Stone and Michael Wilton] like to play 'name that riff,' and sometimes the whole band joins in. That's really the way this album came together. We got together and started playing songs to each other, and then we picked our favorites."
Queensryche has only released a few covers, one of them being a powerful interpretation of "Scarborough Fair" in the early 1990s. Some of the 11 selections naturally fit the band's progressive rock influences, particularly Pink Floyd and "Innuendo" by Queen, one of Tate's favorite bands. Others will definitely raise eyebrows. The group is giving Broadway a spin by performing "Heaven on Their Minds" from "Jesus Christ Superstar," as well as the O'Jays' R&B classic "For Love of Money," the operatic "Odissea" by Italian duo Carlo Marrale and Cheope and an acoustic version of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth."
Tate says he enjoyed the demanding arrangement of "Odissea." "I really like this song because there is a lot for a singer to sink his teeth into," he reports. "Plus I got a chance to sing in Italian, which was interesting, considering I don't speak a word of it."
He considered singing "Red Rain" and the Police's "Synchronicity II" opportunities to explore music he'd previously overlooked. "I'd heard these songs on the radio before, but I didn't really appreciate them before the guys suggested we record them," he admits. "It was a rewarding experience doing this album because it gave us all a chance to pay tribute to some of the bands that have meant so much to us over the years, and we all discovered new songs to love."
In July, Queensryche entered Billboard's Top Music Video chart at No. 1 with the live double-DVD/double-CD set "Mindcrime at the Moore"; it was the first time in its 20-plus year career Queensryche debuted atop a Billboard chart. On Aug. 28, EMI is releasing the group's second greatest-hits album, "Sign of the Times: The Best of Queensryche."
The band is also touring with Heaven And Hell for a month of North American concerts starting Sept. 5 and is currently writing its next studio record.

| Saturday, July 28, 2007 - Queensr˙che album news | Queensr˙che has begun working on the follow-up to last year's Operation: Mindcrime II in Seattle. Frontman Geoff Tate tells Billboard.com he hopes the as-yet-untitled set will arrive next summer or fall.
"We're just into the first couple months of writing for it, and it's a theme record. It's based on modern American life, sort of a social commentary," Tate says. "Musically it's very adventurous for us. It's something we haven't done before. It's going to take a lot of people by surprise, and at the same time I think they're going to be very intrigued by the concept of it."

| Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - Queensr˙che To Issue All-Covers Album In December | In an interview today (July 3rd) with BW&BK's Mitch Lafon, Queensr˙che's Geoff Tate revealed that the band will be releasing a new "all-covers" album in December.
Among the tracks to be covered by Queensr˙che for the release are PINK FLOYD's 'Welcome To The Machine', QUEEN's 'Innuendo' and the band's take on the opera classic 'Odessa'.

In related news, Tate also revealed further details for the band's upcoming compilation from EMI, entitled Sign Of The Times: Best Of, and due for release on August 28th.
Sign Of The Times: Best Of will be a 2CD set. The first disc will feature the band's "greatest hits", but not necessarily the standard album versions. Single edits, live versions, and outakes will also be featured.
The second disc will feature rarities, including never before heard tracks such as 'Chasing Blue Sky', 'Liquified' and 'Dirty Little Secret'. Also to be included on the rarities disc are three songs from Geoff Tate's pre-Queensr˙che progressive band MYTH, which he was in with Kelly Gray (who later was Queensr˙che's first attempt at a replacement for guitarist Chris DeGarmo).
The collection will be available in two formats: regular CD and Deluxe.

Word from the Campaign is that there are a lot of projects going on while the band's touring in support of Operation: Mindcrime II. For example... while the band has been on the road they have been busy writing new material for the next Queensryche record. The band is also gearing up for a new live double disc that's to be recorded and released this fall. All signs point to a Operation: LIVECrime II with disc 1 being a live production of Mindcrime and disc 2 being a live production of Mindcrime II... but only time will tell. Hopefully, if/when Rhino gets around to releasing this, they'll put some bonus material on it as well ... like the music video?

| Monday, May 1, 2006 - New Queensr˙che release | To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1981 formation of Queensr˙che EMI will release two expanded Operation: Mindcrime packages on June 20. A new 2-CD set adds two bonus tracks to the Platinum-certified, Grammy-nominated 1988 album/rock opera and pairs the disc with a previously unreleased live performance of the album's tracks in sequence. The 2-CD+DVD Operation: Mindcrime - Deluxe Edition, packaged in a four-panel digipak with slipcase, contains the 2-CD set and its 24-page booklet and adds Video: Mindcrime, making its DVD debut with two previously unreleased video clips.
The expanded 2-CD set's first disc includes the full original album with two bonus tracks, live renditions of "The Mission" (recorded in 1990 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London) and "My Empty Room" (from the "Bridge" CD single). Its second disc adds a previously unreleased live representation of the entire Operation: Mindcrime album, recorded live at London, England's Hammersmith Odeon on November 15, 1990.
The 2-CD+DVD Deluxe Edition contains the 2-CD Operation: Mindcrime set plus Video: Mindcrime. Video: Mindcrime makes its DVD debut with this release, adding two previously unreleased clips: a behind-the-scenes look at "The Making Of Operation: Mindcrime" and an original television ad for the album.

Operation: Mindcrime II has a new release date. It's been moved up a week to April 4th, 2006. That's the bad news...
The good news... the album mixing and mastering was completed earlier this week. It's off to the presses now!
The track listing has been reworked a bit and 2 news tracks have been added. "Freiheit Ouvertüre" is the infamous "intro" all you fans have been chattering about, with Convict being a new one just newly added:

| Monday, December 19, 2005 - Ronnie James Dio to sing on Operation: Mindcrime II | Ronnie James Dio will be singing the part of Dr. X on Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime II, the long-anticipated sequel to 1988's acclaimed concept album Operation: Mindcrime.
Ronnie recently headed up to the Bay Area to record his part on the record, and commented on being chosen to play Dr. X: "I was flattered to be asked to be part of the Operation: Mindcrime II project, and it was truly great to work with Geoff Tate again."

| Tuesday, December 6, 2005 - Queensr˙che - Operation: Mindcrime II details | Queensr˙che returned to the studio this summer to record the long-anticipated sequel to 1988's acclaimed concept album Operation: Mindcrime. Praised by critics and certified platinum, the original remained on Billboard's album chart for more than a year and its dynamic music and powerful message still resonate today. Rhino Records helps unravel the mysteries of the original with Operation: Mindcrime II. The album is available March 14 at regular physical and digital retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested retail price of $18.98.
Operation: Mindcrime II contains a 15-song story and is performed by the Seattle-based quintet - singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate; guitarists Michael Wilton and Mike Stone; bassist Eddie Jackson, and drummer Scott Rockenfield.
Tate says the current political and social climate inspired him to revisit the storyline. "I left the original open-ended with the intent to come back with a sequel to finish the story up," he says. "Considering where we are today and how little things have changed, it was too ironic not to continue the story."
Operation: Mindcrime's intriguing and complex plot revolves around Dr. X, a political puppet master who brainwashes Nikki, the story's main character, to assassinate corrupt public figures. The story also includes Nikki's lover, Sister Mary. A former teenage prostitute who becomes a nun, Sister Mary is murdered mysteriously, leaving the cliffhanger "Who Killed Sister Mary?"
Set 20 years after the original, Operation: Mindcrime II explores Nikki's fate after being released from prison and reveals the identity of Mary's killer. "I tried to put myself in Nikki's shoes and imagine what it would be like for him to come back to society after spending 20 years in jail stewing about what happened to him," Tate says. "I became fascinated with the concept of revenge and what that would do to a person like Nikki. The story is ultimately about how Nikki wrestles with his conflicted emotions. On one side, his base instincts are pushing him to kill those who wronged him. On the other side, his conscience-represented by the spirit of Sister Mary - urges him to learn from his past mistakes and find salvation."
Earlier this year Queensr˙che launched a sold-out tour featuring the original Operation: Mindcrime performed in its entirety with actors on stage portraying the characters alongside the band. Tate says the band plans to launch a tour in 2006 that will feature a stage performance of both Mindcrimes in their entirety. "The actors on stage with us add a new dimension to the music," he says. "It's different than your typical rock show, but the audiences really got into the Mindcrime I tour. It's exciting to have the opportunity to combine both albums into one show. It's going to be epic."
Since its formation in 1981 near Seattle, Queensr˙che has released nine studio albums. Empire, the 1990 follow-up to Operation: Mindcrime, sold more than two million copies thanks in part to the enormous success of the hit, "Silent Lucidity." Released in 1994, Promised Land was certified platinum and featured the hits "I Am I" and "Bridge."

| Tuesday, August 3, 2004 - Queensryche - Us tour & Operation:Mindcrime II | Art rock pioneers Queensryche will perform the classic album 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety on the upcoming fall 2004/winter 2005 tour, which is being presented by VH1 Classic. A "greatest hits" set will open each show, and at the end of the night there will be a preview of the upcoming Sanctuary Records release 'Operation:mindcrime II,' the working title of the long-awaited, eagerly desired sequel to the groundbreaking concept album. Audiences will be blown away by the Surround Sound audio setup on the tour.
Vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarist Michael Wilton, guitarist Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield will open each show with a "greatest hits" set ending with the smash "Silent Lucidity." Local orchestra string sections will perform with the band in select cities. Michael Igor Delassandra, formerly an official composer for the Vatican, will accompany Queensryche and perform on keyboards.
"The band is so excited to be performing 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety again after not having done this in 15 years," says Tate. "We are presenting it in a whole new way that finally does justice the intricacies of the story and the personalities of the characters."
'Operation:mindcrime' will be recreated in full with enhanced production. Live actors will embody the fascinating characters of this chilling tale -- interacting both on stage and off. Vocalist Pamela Moore, who toured with Queensryche recently, will be back to provide the vocals of the album's pivotal character, "Sister Mary." New video footage will be incorporated as well. Queensryche also performed 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety in 1990-91, but this time around new and expanded video footage will be used. Fans who saw the show in 1990-91 will enjoy a more vivid experience this time.
One of the most exciting parts of each concert will certainly be the finale -- the preview of 'Operation:mindcrime II.' Fans have wanted a sequel ever since 'Operation:mindcrime' exploded and earned the band critical acclaim and commercial success. In particular, fans have always asked one burning question in relation to the 'Operation:mindcrime' plot: "Who killed Sister Mary?" The new album, scheduled for release in 2005, will address that question.
The North American tour begins in October 2004 and another run of dates is planned to start in January 2005.

The DVD is set to contain live and backstage footage along with "special extras". It features an "On The Road" travel documentary shot by the themselves as well as backstage footage and includes the encore duets with Dream Theater from their summer 2003 tour.
