Now Playing: Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
In one of my old playlists, I wrote this (about the 42:04 minute long title track):

"When you listen to this song you really run an emotional marathon. Exhausted, that's for sure, but you want to go back and just start it all again"

And I still feel the same about this song. I just listened to it on my 45 minute walk to the university this morning (my bike wasn't working with me this morning) and I wasn't focusing on anything else except the music, just walking in this DT-Six-Degrees-of-Inner-Turbulence-world. It's amazing that it still manages to impress me and to take my breath away!

"About to Crash"
One thing that irritates me, every single time I listen to the song, is the line:

 "She has weathered this depression"

I find it very annoying and out of place that they have to point it out, when it's so clear what this girl is dealing with.

"Goodnight Kiss"
Is such a lovely peaceful song, and that heavenly guitar solo fits perfectly in.

"Solitary Shell"
The keyboard always puts me in a hyper-happy mood, because it's so freaky in the most positive way ever.
"He's a Monday morning lunatic "- love that line. My Monday morning often starts off singing this in my head while I brush my teeth: "she's a Monday morning lunatic" and then I go on ..."A momentary maniac with casual delusions"  it really puts me in a great mood... yeah, and then do a little toothbrush-guitar solo. ;-) just for your information.

"Losing Time":
"She dresses in black every day
she keeps her hair simple and plain,
she never wears makeup
but no one would care if she did anyway"

One thing that really amazes me, besides the lyrics, is Mike's drumming, it is as if he waits a second before he hits the drums - it makes the mood calm, but yet intense.

Listen to the song : "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" here ...it's 42:04 min (on Youtube it's 42:03min)... but it's 42:04 min. of epicness - I promise!

A one-of-a-kind song. Absolutely fantastic. "Losing Time" is the pinnacle and my favorite part. Incredible tension and a soaring release after being put though the emotional wringer, in equal parts due to James' glorious singing and Mike's brilliant drumming as you also mention, oh, and the keyboard.
