"Encore" is the last roar from one of the most underrated Glam metal bands around.
Alleycat Scratch's brilliant debut album is unfortunately their only release, so this disc from Demon Dolls Records is much anticipated and welcomed.
"Encore" contains the final 3
Alleycat Scratch studio recordings. The band certainly goes out with style since
Grave Gina is a sheer class track with a great rhythm.
Don't Forget Me has Singer Eddie Robison in fine form while the lyrics for
Sick deal with why
Alleycat Scratch broke up. They were fed up.
The disc has a playing time of 10:24 total and even though neither of the tracks tops "Deadboys in Trash City" they are must have for
Alleycat Scratch fans.
The true treasure of "Encore" is the Live DVD recorded at The Roxy 1993. This show shows a band on top of their game. The band sounds great and Eddie Robison sounds fantastic. You can still sense some of the "classic sunset strip feel" from the concert even though the scene was dying. The band airs all 3 songs that were featured on the studio disc of "Encore".
Cat's Got You Tongue and a sweat dripping version of
Soul Survivor are the highlights of the show along with
Roses on My Grave.
The DVD bonus material shows the load in and also sound check. The band plays Hanoi Rocks'
Malibu Beach instrumental for sound check and when Eddie Robison joins in they play a cover of Dogs D'Amour
I Don't Want you To Go, which they also play at the Roxy on the magical night in 1993. When you watch the DVD you think back that this was one of those shows where you had to be there. Besides playing well the band looks really cool! A true gem!
