Monday, June 8, 2009 - Nevermore Complete Songwriting Process For Next Album
News from Nevermore:

One always says that you can't rush greatness or perfection, and this couldn't be more true in the case of metal titans NEVERMORE, who last released the highly acclaimed This Godless Endeavor in 2005. The Seattle quartet will triumphantly return with what could be their most impressive offering of their illustrious decade plus, heralded career.

The Obsidian Conspiracy will commence recording in August with producer Peter Wichers (who previously worked with NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane on his solo debut Praises to the War Machine). Longtime friend and collaborator Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Opeth) will once again be handling mixing duties. The album is currently set for an early 2010 release. Fans can also follow Dane on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/warrel_dane for updates as to the progress of the new album.

Dane further comments: "These songs are full of newfound rage, lyrically and musically. Jeff Loomis has come up with some amazing new riffs that will no doubt please old and new fans alike. Also, I think the combination of Peter and Andy will result in something very, very special.

Saturday, September 1, 2007 - Steve Smyth leaves Nevermore
Guitarist Steve Smyth's web site has been updated with the following:

Guitarist Steve Smyth has officially parted ways with Nevermore, citing personal and business differences.

"All things find their end eventually, and at this time, I wish to make it clear that this was mutually agreed between the band and myself.

I will continue on with other aspects of my music career, including the upcoming release of The EssenEss Project, an all instrumental album, in the vein of progressive rock, that is now finished and being prepared for release.

After a year and 4 months of being out of the touring scene due to ill health and then a kidney transplant, I have finally been given a full health clearance by my doctors to go back on the road, and I am now ready to return to the stage.

I am proud and extremely honored to have been a guest of Uli Jon Roth at his Sky Academy concert series this past weekend, August 24th and 25th, in LA. What an awesome experience! To jam with one of the greatest, as well as several other incredible guitarists and musicians who have been big influences on my playing over the years, and to make new friends as well, the whole thing was just incredible. Many thanks to Uli for inviting me, it was truly an honor!

I am now embarking on a 6 week of tour of Europe with my friends from the Danish thrash metal band, SPV Recording Artists, HateSphere, first supporting Behemoth in Poland, and then joining the Dimmu Borgir tour. I have been a fan of HateSphere and friends with the band since 2003, when they opened for Testament at a festival we played together, and absolutely look forward to getting out with them and together, crushing Europe!"

Sunday, June 24, 2007 - Nevermore Frontman To Begin Recording Solo Debut In August
Nevermore frontman Warrel Dane is scheduled to enter the studio in early August to begin recording his solo debut, tentatively due in early 2008. "As of now I have written about eight [tracks] together [with Dane], and Warrel is also collaborating with Matt Wicklund [ex-HIMSA guitarist] for a few songs," former SOILWORK guitarist-turned-producer Peter Wichers says.

In a September 2006 interview with Metal-Rules.com, Dane stated about the upcoming solo CD, "I've been working on it for like the last year off and on, just writing songs with Peter Wichers, and at some point we'll finish them then go in the studio . . . It doesn't sound like NEVERMORE, and I think, you know, if it did, there wouldn't be much point in doing a side project. If it sounded like NEVERMORE I think it would be a little redundant . . . Of course it's metal! Kind of like metal-infused hard rock, I think. It's different and it's a chance for me to explore myself in other ways! [laughs] Well, for me, and for Peter from SOILWORK as well, it was kind of a chance for us both to 'step outside the box,' because people expect a certain thing from both those bands and with this we don't have to fulfill any expectations. We can do whatever we want."

Dane stated a year ago that his solo debut would include an appearance by Warrel's former SANCTUARY (pre-NEVERMORE) bandmate Dave Budbill (currently in ZEROCREEP) on drums.

Monday, May 1, 2006 - Nevermore guitarist diagnosed with kidney disease
Nevermore guitarist Steve Smyth has been recently diagnosed with end stage kidney failure, the result of a congenital birth defect.

Says Smyth: " I have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and have been advised to preserve my health as much as possible at this time, as I am facing "complete renal failure" within six months, and ultimately, a transplant. Due to my recently diagnosed condition, I have decided not to join the band on the In Flames US tour. I want to be fair to the fans, and be able to give them a show I know I can deliver night after night. I will, however, join Nevermore on all four of the European festivals on our itinerary in early June: Gods of Metal, Rock Hard, Rott Fest, and Sweden Rock, after which, the doctors should have some news about the next step in my treatment. I will say this: I will fight this, and I will be back!"

Jag Panzer guitarist Chris Broderick will fill in for Smyth on the upcoming US tour, after which Smyth will rejoin the band for the aforementioned European festival dates. For more from Smyth about his health situation and future career plans, please visit www.stevesmyth.com

Wednesday, April 13, 2005 - Nevermore complete new album
Nevermore recently completed the recording process for their highly anticipated new album, This Godless Endeavor, at Backstage Studios in England with legendary producer Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage, Opeth). The album is currently set for a summer release. This will mark the group's first recording with guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament).

Nevermore will embark on massive six-week summer festival tour, dubbed the Gigantour, alongside Megadeth, Dream Theater, Fear Factory and The Dillinger Escape Plan in late July. Warrel Dane (vocals) further describes his thoughts on the new album and upcoming tour: "We have completed the recording process for This Godless Endeavor and Andy Sneap will finish mixing and mastering the record this week. It was a great experience working with Sneap again and he has really outdone himself on this record. We are also really psyched up for Gigantour. It's great to part of a tour that is focused on musicianship instead of current trends. This summer is going to be great."

In other news, the new version of the group's critically acclaimed 2003 album Enemies of Reality, remixed by Sneap, is now available. It was repackaged with altered cover artwork, two promotional video clips (the title track and "I, Voyager") and a live video of the title track performed at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival this past summer.

The remixed Enemies of Reality will replace the existing version of the album in stores. Fans who have already purchased the record and want to hear the new edition can special order it from the CenturyMedia.com web shop, where the CD itself will be sold individually (i.e., without jewel case and artwork) for $5, including shipping. The disc will be mailed in a CD sleeve; a link to a special website containing the downloadable revised artwork will be included in order confirmation e-mails.

Seattle's own Nevermore are currently in Backstage Studios, Derbyshire / UK, recording their brand new and highly anticipated studio album entitled "This Godless Endeavor" with legendary producer Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Arch Enemy, Testament, Opeth, etc.), who already successfully worked with the band on their "Dead Heart In A Dead World" release. To see a video clip from Nevermore's studio activities, click here.

Nevermore vocalist Warrel Dane called in to comment on the current activities:

"Hello from the snowy hills of Derbyshire. The recording is going amazingly well! We already tracked 3 songs and it's sounding great! Heavy as fucking hell and we are very, very excited to be working with Andy again!"

"This Godless Endeavor", which marks the group's first album recording with guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament), is tentatively looking at a worldwide release via Century Media Records by the late Summer of 2005 and some of the new songs included on the album will be "This Godless Endeavor", "The Psalm Of Lydia", "Killing Time For The Pretty Ones", "Sentient 6" and "Bittersweet Feast". Nevermore are also recording a cover version of Ozzy Osbourne's "Revelation (Mother Earth)".

In other news, due to overwhelming public demand, the group's critically acclaimed 2003 album, "Enemies of Reality", has been re-mixed and re-mastered as well by Andy Sneap and will be re-launched with a European street date of March 21st, repackaged with slightly altered cover artwork and additional bonus enhancements: the two video clips for the album (the title track "Enemies Of Reality" and "I, Voyager") as well as a live video of the title track performed at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival 2004.

"Enemies of Reality" (Re-Mixed & Re-Mastered) will replace the existing original version of the album in stores with its street date. For those who simply wish to replace their original version, the CD itself (no packaging / no booklet!) will also be available for purchase via the European Century Media mailorder & webshop for the price of 5 Euro as of March 21st. More details on this special offer soon!

Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - Nevermore news
The Seattle-based quintet Nevermore are currently wrapping up the songwriting process for their highly anticipated new album, set for a summer release. In February, the group will head to Backstage Studios in England to begin recording with legendary producer Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage, Opeth). This will mark the group's first recording with guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament). The band will proceed to debut some new material on a short European tour in March.

In other news, due to overwhelming demand, the group's critically acclaimed 2003 album, Enemies of Reality, is currently being remixed by Sneap and will be repackaged with altered cover artwork, two promotional video clips (the title track and "I, Voyager") and a live video of the title track performed at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival this past summer.

The remixed Enemies of Reality will replace the existing version of the album in stores beginning in March. Fans who have already purchased the record and want to hear the new edition can special order it from the CenturyMedia.com web shop, where the CD itself will be sold individually (i.e., without jewel case and artwork) for $5, including shipping. Warrel Dane (vocals) further describes his excitement over the album being remastered, "We're glad that we can all finally hear Enemies of Reality the way it should have sounded in the first place. Andy's mixes sound brutal, and the infamous blanket of mud is gone. We're hard at work getting ready for the studio. The new material is shaping up to be some of our best work yet. We're psyched to get in the studio with Andy and tear it up again."

Wednesday, December 8, 2004 - Nevermore's Enemies of reality to be remixed and re-released
Producer Andy Sneap is remixing Nevermore's "Enemies of Reality" album for re-release via the Century Media label in early 2005.

"Enemies of Reality" (2003) (Read review) was originally recorded in Seattle with producer Kelly Gray and was widely criticized for its muddy, inferior production compared to that of its predecessor, 2000's "Dead Heart in a Dead World", which was produced by Sneap.

Nevermore are expected to enter the studio with Sneap in February 2005 to begin recording their follow-up to "Enemies Of Reality", tentatively due late summer/early fall via Century Media.

An update from Nevermore:

After touring since 1995 with a number of different guitarists in the second slot Nevermore are happy to announce that we have added Steve Smyth on a permanent basis, the revolving door has been retired! After awhile touring with Steve it became obvious to us that he was the missing link in our dysfunctional brotherhood! So now we approach the future officially as a five piece band!"

Sunday, March 28, 2004 - Nevermore re-signs with Cetury Media
Nevermore have re-signed with Century Media. Here is a comment from Warrel Dane:

"The members of Nevermore would like to announce that after long negations, we have re-signed to Century Media Records. Both sides worked very hard to repair past problems and in the end, after fielding numerous offers, we felt this was the best to carry us into our future. We are currently writing new songs in our downtime and preparing for our first release under our new contract. We have four solid songs down at the moment and hope to hit the studio in early fall. In the meantime, we will be doing some major festivals in Europe, a headlining U.S. tour and a new video. All is well in Nevermore, and expect another major announcement to be made soon."

Monday, January 27, 2003 - Nevermore To Work With Ex-Queensrÿche Guitarist On Upcoming CD
Nevermore are set to enter a Seattle studio shortly with producer Kelly Gray (QUEENSRYCHE, SLAVE TO THE SYSTEM, DOKKEN) to begin recording the much-anticipated follow-up to 2000's "Dead Heart in a Dead World".
The forthcoming CD, tentatively titled "Enemies Of Reality" may or may not be mixed by acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, STUCK MOJO, SKINLAB), who worked with the band during the "Dead Heart." sessions.

"It looks like Nevermore are tracking the next album with Kelly Gray in Seattle," Sneap confirmed in an online posting. "I may be mixing it, I may not, all depends what they want to do. It's not that either party wanted to do it differently this time around, just due to schedules clashing and the label keeping the budget low due to it being their last one for Century Media."

The Seattle-based group, who feature in their ranks former members of the popular '80s power metal act Sanctuary, spent much of the last year fighting with Century Media over budget- and promotion-related issued pertaining to the forthcoming release, which marks the band's last CD for Century Media under their current five-album contract with the label.

Nevermore, considered by many to be one of Century Media's top acts, are believed to be entertaining offers from several other record companies, including Nuclear Blast Records, who are said to have the inside track to sign the group following the expiration of their current agreement.

Among the cuts that are tentatively set to appear on "Enemies Of Reality" are the following:

The Story Of Our End
Who Decides
The Song Of The Solemn One
Enemies Of Reality
Psychotic Intellectual Narcotic
Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday
Abomination

A late 2003 release through Century Media is expected.

During an online chat conducted on Sunday, August 25th, Nevermore frontman Warrel Dane revealed that the group's forthcoming CD, entitled Enemies Of Reality, will contain "only one ballad", because "it's time to get as heavy as possible for Nevermore." The singer also indicated that the album is tentatively due to be released in February 2003, presumably through Century Media Records, with whom the band have had a long-running dispute for several months.
