Saturday, August 3, 2019 - Archive Version is online | Since closing down the site and taking some time off, only to start a new RevelationZ site a year later, I have been going back and forth between making this old incarnation of the site available online in some way or form.
I finally found a way to get it back online very cheap and spent some time adjusting the code, so the site works in an archive state. The member section is disabled, so it is not possible to add comments.
Mainly, I felt it was a shame to have all this great content, which we put our hearts and souls into for almost a decade, hidden away on a hard drive in my computer, unseen and unread.
Enjoy this piece of Heavy Metal & Hard Rock history, which was the RevelationZ Magazine website. · Discuss this news further (0) |
Thursday, August 18, 2011 - RevelationZ Site News - RevelationZ Closing Down | It is with mixed feelings that I announce the closure of the RevelationZ website.
This has not been an easy decision to make. I have spent most of my spare time in the past 10 years developing and running the site and it has been a fantastic ride. Financial issues, motivation factors and changes in my priorities, all contribute to the fact, that I am no longer able to keep the site running, at the high level that I want.
I want to thank my staff for their contributions through the years. I believe each of us added our own ingredient into making RevelationZ something very special. I also wish all our readers the best in their future musical discoveries. · Discuss this news further (5) |
Tuesday, August 16, 2011 - Black Sabbath Reunite With Ozzy Osbourne | Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has confirmed to Birmingham Mail that the band's original lineup has reunited and is rehearsing for a tour and new studio album.
Iommi and singer Ozzy Osbourne wrote new material in June for a record that will be released next year.
"We're really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we've been writing is really good," said Iommi. "It's more back to the old original stuff."
He also said the the reunion has been kept quiet for a while:
"It's all been very hush-hush. Ozzy's been the worst at trying to hold it back. He's doing a lot of TV and he's being asked stuff about a reunion and he's going, 'Well, I never say never.' He told me, 'I don't know what to say."
Iommi told the Birmingham Mail that his only concern about a reunion of Black Sabbath original lineup was the health of drummer Bill Ward who in 1998 suffered a heart attack.
"He hasn't been 100 percent. He had an operation a few months ago, so we'll see how he is." · Discuss this news further (1) |

Thursday, August 4, 2011 - Candice Night Solo Album Details Revealed | Part fantasy, part weaver of magic, part willow the wisp: singer and song writer Candice Night releases her debut solo single, "Call It Love". The single is the first taste of Night's first solo adult contemporary album, "Reflections", set for release on September 27. "Call It Love" is now available for purchase on iTunes.
Commenting on "Call It Love", Night states, "So many people are so afraid of the word 'love.' It's all-consuming, life-changing and can leave you so open and vulnerable that saying 'I love you' for the first time can be a scary moment. We hide behind so many other words to describe the emotion: fate, a dream, luck that we met the right one... but once you give in and surrender to the truth of being in love, there is a comfort and a warmth of completion that doesn't come until you give yourself fully to that incredible feeling of being in love. And there is nothing else like it."
Night was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and is often dubbed "one of the most beautiful women in the world" by the international media. She is frequently identified as a mix of Karen Carpenter's voice and a young Stevie Nicks, for her flowing skirts, but her ethereal voice and lyrics are all her own. As a frontwoman for the band Blackmore's Night she also plays seven medieval instruments on stage, lending to the excitement and mysticism of the music of her group.
Night sang background for Deep Purple in 1993; and on Richie Blackmore's Rainbow CD "Stranger In Us All", she co-wrote four songs. She received a gold record in Japan for her co-writing efforts and one of her songs, "Black Masquerade", was chosen as "Best Song Of The Year" in 1995. Her song "Ariel" won accolades in Europe and charted at #2, as well as being the official German soccer song, and "Black Masquerade" was #1 in Japan.
Night is the lead singer and writes all the lyrics for the songs for her current group Blackmore's Night. Their first album, "Shadow Of The Moon", earned Night a second gold record in 1997. Since then, she has been awarded gold records and other many international awards for her writing and performances in Blackmore's Night In addition, Night has appeared on a PBS special. The most recent Blackmore's Night album, "Autumn Sky", entered the Billboard New Age chart at No. 1. Many celebrities have gathered to see Night perform live in concert, including Sarah Brightman, Cuba Gooding Jr. and many others.
Night is now releasing her first solo project, "Reflections", which is an adult contemporary album that showcases a different side to her extraordinary talent and voice. "Reflections" is emanated from Night's personal experiences as a woman, devoted mother and musician.
Allow yourself a chance to get lost in the passions, the mysteries, and the ever-changing kaleidoscope of Candice Night - reflected in her vocals, her lyrics and her music. · Discuss this news further (0) |

This time around we wanted to give you a show from our home country Finland.
The main show was filmed at the Teatria club in Oulu, Finland, last April. It showcases Sonata Arctica towards the end of 'The Days Of Grays' world tour, which started back in 2009.

Whether you missed us or checked us out during this world tour, this DVD will be the complete guide to what we've been up to these past two years.
I'm sure you all will enjoy watching this DVD as much as we've enjoyed making it.
'The Days Of Grays' world tour has been absolutely fantastic and I'm very happy that we've managed to capture all the ups and downs on film. You'll know what I'm talking about when we get this monster package out!" · Discuss this news further (0) |
Tuesday, August 2, 2011 - Doogie White To Release New Solo Album | Metal Mind Productions will release Doogie White's solo album, "As Yet Untitled", on October 24 in Europe and November 7 in the U.S. (via MVD).
This Scottish vocalist came to the attention of the worldwide audience when Ritchie Blackmore asked him to be the lead singer in his reformed Rainbow. They recorded one album together - "Stranger in Us All". Doogie would go on to sing with Swedish neo-classical guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen for over a six-and-a-half-year period, record two albums and tour the world. He also recorded four albums and toured with CORNERSTONE and is currently the lead singer of Tank, who embark on selected European dates starting this August.
According to a press release, "As Yet Untitled" is a collection of 10 dramatic and hard-hitting rock songs co-written by White and some good friends he has made over the years on the rock scene.
Commented White: "I always thought my first solo album should be called this. The journalists at Sounds and Kerrang! always had a line that so and so are in the studio recording an album, as yet untitled. Well, now I have actually done that.
I always like to be part of a band but I found myself isolated for a short while and decided to record some of the songs that I had been working on, while either on the road or back at home.
I won't sit around and wait for the phone to ring. A bored Doogie is a dangerous thing!
I gathered the good and the great, companions who had travelled the world with me at various times. Friends who I knew were outstanding players and to a man and one beautiful woman they gave freely of their talents and time. I am forever in their debt."
The list of guest musicians involved in the recording of "As Yet Untitled" looks impressive:
* Patrick Johansson (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Drums * Thomas Broman (GLENN HUGHES) - Drums * Derek Sherinian (BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION) - Keyboards * Tony Carey (RAINBOW) - Keyboards * Neil Murray (WHITESNAKE) - Bass * Greg Smith (TED NUGENT) - Bass * Paul Logue (EDEN'S CURSE) - Bass * Pontus Norgren (HAMMERFALL) - Guitar * Marcus Jidell (ROYAL HUNT) - Guitar * Phil Hilborne (QUEEN Musical) - Guitar * Mick Tucker (TANK) - Guitar * Patti Russo (MEATLOAF, CHER) - Guest vocals.
The album was recorded at various studios in Florida, Germany, and Scotland but most of the production was handled in Sweden with Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) at the helm.
Added White: "Pontus and I became great friends through our time with Yngwie. He shone a bright light on the songs with his production. He brought a certain calmness to the madness and made sure that everything that was in the song had to be there for a reason. Even when the hard drive with the initial mixes was stolen, I knew that Pontus could sort it out." · Discuss this news further (0) |

Monday, August 1, 2011 - More Details Of Alice Cooper's New Album Revealed | Legendary rocker Alice Cooper will release his hugely anticipated new album, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare", later this year via Universal Music Group.
Recorded with longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, who produced the original multi-platinum "Welcome To My Nightmare" album in 1975, the record picks up right where they left off, with Alice trapped in his own warped mind.
That original album is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and pioneering U.S. TV special and cemented Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theater, television, film and much more.
More than 35 years later, Alice and Ezrin have resurrected the horror and humor for a new generation.
"This is Alice's nightmare 35 years later," explains Alice, "Bob and I created this character and we know how to write for him. I play the part but we're not writing for me, we're writing for Alice. We kept the first 'Nightmare' album very personal to us, on this one we found more humor and we were more open. This was our world and we want to present it to the fans. The original album was my first solo album after all those huge hit records with the original band and now that nightmare is exposed, this one can be a little bit more open. The music crosses all sorts of boundaries; we went where the lyrics took us."
There is an array of collaborators on the new album, including original Alice Cooper members Denis Dunaway, Michael Bruce and Neal Smith reunited on three tracks; global pop superstar Ke$ha, who affectionately calls Alice "dad"; and legendary Alice and Lou Reed guitarist Steve Hunter, who is part of Alice's current touring band and featured prominently on the first "Nightmare" album.
Musically, the album ranges far and wide, from trashing disco to garage punk, pop balladry to a rocking number very much in the spirit of The Rolling Stones. And then there's the ballad "Something To Remember Me By", described by Alice as "the prettiest song we have ever released."
Glimpses of themes from the original album are intertwined throughout, each track representing a different aspect of Alice's nightmare.
From the opener, "I Am Made Of You", through the already established live favorite and first single "I'll Bite Your Face Off", to the surprising duet with Ke$ha, "What Baby Wants", this album is a reminder that albums just aren't made this way anymore.
And musicians do not play together like Dennis Dunaway, Michael Bruce and Neal Smith anymore.
"I wanted a '70s feel for "When Hell Comes Home" says Alice, "and I didn't even have to ask for it, it's just how they play and they did it live in the studio. When they got done playing the basic track, Bob and I just looked at each other, that sound is built into their DNA. We didn't need to go and fix anything. The way they finished was a little bit ragged and that's the way we used to finish songs, that's what I like about it."
Co-writers on various songs include the aforementioned Bob Ezrin, Ke$ha, Neal, Dennis, Michael, plus Buckcherry's Keith Nelson, Desmond Child (who famously co-wrote and produced "Poison" with Alice), longtime collaborator Dick Wagner, current touring band member Chuck Garric and film composer Jeremy Rubolino.
"That's my rebellion," says Alice of the more surprising guests, "I like people that don't belong and yet what they're doing works perfectly. I don't care where it comes from, as long as it's right. If you tell me something doesn't work, I'll work my head of until it does then shove it down your throat.
"I think a lot of my audience is going to go 'Ke$ha!?', but she probably wrote the most disgusting lyrics in the song - we had to rein her in. I like people to know that just because artists are put in a pigeon hole, that doesn't mean that's what they are. Give people a little room."
With Steve Hunter, one of rock's great guitarists, added to the band's line-up of guitarists Damon Johnson and Tommy Henriksen, bassist Chuck Garric, and drummer Glen Sobel, Alice has been tearing up venues worldwide on his 2011 "No More Mr. Nice Guy" tour.
Alice gave fans a treat in June with a surprise performance at London's tiny 100 Club, when actor Johnny Depp joined in on guitar. Alice showcased the powerful band that had blown away the Download festival crowd the previous weekend.
This year, the original Alice Cooper group was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and Alice was honored with both the Kerrang! Icon Award in the U.K. and the Revolver Golden God Award in the USA.
